Based on Monado, VROOM follows the OpenXR standard and is compatible with any client software implementing the standard.\nDownload Monado-VROOM # Download Monado-VROOM 2026.07.0 Changelog for this version New: ability to invert eyes individually per display Previous versions are available at the link at the end of this page.\nUse case # Created in 2019, the OpenXR standard defines the communication rules between virtual reality software and available hardware. This standard allows any conformnat software to display its 3D content in virtual or mixed reality without needing to worry about the connected headset. It has been unanimously adopted by virtual reality headset manufacturers, ensuring software portability.\nThat being said, these manufacturers only maintaint OpenXR compatibility with their newest headsets, making their older hardware obsolete. Monado, an open-source runtime maintained by the Collabora consortium, provides OpenXR compatibilty beyond the official support of manufacturers, with cross-platform support for these obsolete headsets.\nThe structure of Monado also allows any developer to add compatibility to their hardware. This allowed us, for the INSA 2025 project, to modify Monado and make it compatible with the various immersive rooms of INSA, as well as all types of projected VR environments.\nFeatures # User positional tracking and anamorphic rendering # VROOM is compatible with the ART DTrack and OptiTrack (via VRPN) tracking systems to follow the position of the pilot as well as that of their hands.\nThis continuous positional tracking lets VROOM calculate the required deformation for anamorphic rendering, since in projected environments, the pilot\u0026rsquo;s position relative to the displays is not fixed.\nStereoscopy # To provide an illusion of depth, VROOM renders slightly different images per eye, considering the gap between our eyes. With the help of the Vulkan graphics API, these calculated images are presented alternating left and right eye, and active 3D glasses then separate the left and right images for our eyes.\nInteraction # To interact in the 3D scene, VROOM uses a pair of Joy-Con controllers, on which the buttons have been configured to map to an Oculus Touch controller, to ensure maximum compatibility with existing software.\nGallery # Unreal Engine 5 Twinmotion Blender Previous Next Version list # ","date":"8 July 2026","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/logiciels/monado-vroom/","section":"Software","summary":"OpenXR runtime environment pour projected virtual reality environments","title":"Monado-VROOM","type":"logiciels"},{"content":"","date":"8 July 2026","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/tags/r%C3%A9alit%C3%A9-virtuelle/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Réalité virtuelle","type":"tags"},{"content":"","date":"8 July 2026","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/logiciels/","section":"Software","summary":"","title":"Software","type":"logiciels"},{"content":"","date":"8 July 2026","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/tags/software/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Software","type":"tags"},{"content":"","date":"8 July 2026","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/tags/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Tags","type":"tags"},{"content":"","date":"8 July 2026","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/tags/virtual-reality/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Virtual Reality","type":"tags"},{"content":"First public version of Monado-VROOM.\nDownload # Download Monado-VROOM 2026.06.0 ","date":"23 June 2026","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/logiciels/monado-vroom/versions/2026.06.0/","section":"Software","summary":"First public version of Monado-VROOM.","title":"2026.06.0","type":"logiciels"},{"content":" This website is under construction. In order to evaluate the tools developed by the project partners, it was essential to create data upstream of this logistics chain.\nAs post-disaster surveys and available data on the exact distribution of debris, their nature and the changes they underwent during the accident are rare, the simulation of catastrophic events was chosen.\nLa Bâtcave is therefore contributing its expertise by simulating fictional disasters in virtual reality on digital models of industrial structures.\nTo this end, we are currently developing a tool for manipulating 3D or BIM objects and interactive physical simulation of their destruction: Barney.\n","date":"1 January 2022","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/projets/liad/","section":"Projects","summary":"Logistique Inverse Appliquée à l’optimisation et à la valorisation du Démantèlement de sites suite à des catastrophes industrielles en milieu urbain","title":"LIAD","type":"projets"},{"content":"","date":"1 January 2022","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/tags/prestation/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Prestation","type":"tags"},{"content":"","date":"1 January 2022","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/projets/","section":"Projects","summary":"","title":"Projects","type":"projets"},{"content":"","date":"1 January 2022","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/tags/recherche/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Recherche","type":"tags"},{"content":"","date":"1 January 2022","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/tags/research/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Research","type":"tags"},{"content":"","date":"1 January 2022","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/tags/service/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Service","type":"tags"},{"content":"","date":"1 January 2022","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/tags/simulation/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"Simulation","type":"tags"},{"content":"First public version of Origami.\nDownload # Download Origami 0.1.0 ","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/logiciels/origami/versions/0.1.0/","section":"Software","summary":"Initial version of Origami.","title":"0.1.0","type":"logiciels"},{"content":"","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/authors/","section":"authors","summary":"","title":"authors","type":"authors"},{"content":"Barney is a C++ library dedicated to import, simulation and fracture of 3D meshes.\nBarney depends on numerous external libraries to function. It is important efficiently compare several of them to find the most appropriate engine for Barney.\nProject Chrono is an open-source physics engine in active development offering simulations matching real life parameters.\nIts Multicore module speeds up simulation of busy scenes by taking advantage of the parallel computations capabilities of the processor.\nFragmentation # In video games and movies, it is frequent to see buildings blown up, broken class or other destruction requiring to fragment a 3D model. Barney does unpredictable simulations in real time. It\u0026rsquo;s therefore required to be able to fracture meshes on the fly.\nThe libraries Voro++ and MCut have been chosen to perform these tasks:\nVoro++ generates Voronoi cells in a bounding box surrounding the mesh to fracture, MCut calculates the intersection between each cell and the mesh This gives the illusion of a realistically fractured mesh.\nFeatures # Barney can be used in two ways: as a third party library, or in a standalone mode.\nLibrary # Many game engines (like Unity or Unreal Engine) allow integrating plug-ins or third party dependencies.\nAs such, Barney can be used as depenency to replace the built-in physics engine.\nStandalone # A built-in visualization system made with Irrlicht has been implemented to visualize the simulation in real time, without the need for external software to integrate into.\nThis allows the creation of an executable test suite, speeding up development of Barney.\n","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/logiciels/barney/","section":"Software","summary":"Unified interface for 3D object manipulation and physics simulation in virtual reality","title":"Barney","type":"logiciels"},{"content":"","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/categories/","section":"categories","summary":"","title":"categories","type":"categories"},{"content":"","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/tags/cave/","section":"Tags","summary":"","title":"CAVE","type":"tags"},{"content":" Use # Previous Next Equipment # Previous Next ","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/en/salle-immersive/galerie/","section":"Immersive room","summary":"","title":"Gallery","type":"salle-immersive"},{"content":" Stereoscopy and anamorphosis # The position of the user considered \u0026ldquo;pilot\u0026rdquo; is tracked in real time to calculate the correct perspective from their point of view (anamorphosis).
